So there’s this song and if I tweak the opening pronouns to 'he/him' and girl to boy, it's soooo fitting for Loki in high school pining for Tony:

Which then prompts me to ramble this at @NovaRain01. So might as well give it to you guys too
So scenario. Someone, lets say Sif (since it usually is with me) goes up to popular Tony in the middle of the school corridors and says “Did you know Loki has a crush on you?”

And Loki is like pale and horrified and furious and Tony barely glances at Loki before saying to Sif. “You know, maliciously spreading rumours to try and mortify someone is a pretty shitty thing to do. How would you like it if someone did that to you?”

And the hallway is silent and then suddenly people start whispering and glaring at Sif. The whole thing isturned on it’s head before Tony just shakes his head and walks away from her.

And Loki just feels so grateful for Tony doing that. It also makes his all consuming crush on the other boy grow even more.

It’s only later that day when Loki is by his locker and he hears a quiet 'Hey'. He turns and finds Tony beside him and his eyes bug-out. Tony just flashes him a charming smile before asking, “So, I don’t know if Sif was being serious or not, but I thought I’d ask anyway; do you wanna go out with me tomorrow night?”

And Loki just stares at him for a long time, his heart pounding, his stomach twisting, before saying, “You’re asking me out?”

“Yeah,” Tony agrees with a lopsided, adorable smile. “You interested?”

Loki hesitates for all of a moment before saying a smoothly and casually as possible. “I suppose that would be alright.”

Tony’s grin becomes a supernova and he excitedly exchanges phone numbers with Loki, promising to text him after class to better arrange a time and location for their date.

Loki can only stare after him once he walks away, feeling stupefied and maybe a little like he’s dreaming. He also turns back to his locker and uses the metal walls around him as a way of hiding the giant smile that is quickly taking over his face.
