and he does seem a bit familiar to tony, but in a really comforting way
also strangely, many many people who are his close friends seem strangely... scared and deferential to his new boyfriend?

Even those who always seemed subtly to discourage him from dating?
but well, it works in his favor so
(at some point, he figures it out and he's pretty conflicted about the people he considers his very good trustworthy friends actually being demons/dead people/murdered/murderers and it's confusing the hell outta him
but then he makes his peace with it
likehe's always been more friends with the demons than the people

and the whole thing seems very abstract : the thing that feels like death to people is their absence, and there was none of that
now we only need to find someone to write it

Loki Bribes Tony Into Being His Friend

I’m considering bribing them into being my friend. Do you think they would accept it?” <- Tony again, talking to Rhodey, looking over at Loki in the schoolyard. Because he thinks Loki is amazing, but doesn't know how to make friends (he's so awkward, Rhodey was a fluke) but he knows people like the Stark money.. maybe that can be a way to make Loki like him?
Rhodey says it's a bad idea but he does it anyway. Loki takes the money and the excuse to be around Tony. Uses the money to take Tony on lavish dates. Tony works it out after a while, all "what? are we dating?"
"I said you could try to be my friend, Tony, not that it was what I wanted from you."
Loki is leaning closer and Tony is wide-eyed and "oh" but he doesn't move and Loki kisses him and Tony sighs happily and grips onto Loki tightly.

I like the second one as Loki talking to Thor. and Thor being like "Bro, no he's loaded. You can't bribe Tony Stark." and Loki's like "Don't tell me what to do! I'll show you."
Cue adorable failure!courting ending with Tony being really gracious and flattered by Loki's efforts

(and tony would know loki isn't there for the money, since he's litterally giving it away to be there)

Ok so
Consider
It’s the early stage of their relationship and they’re not so sure about seeking physical comfort/affection
But when tony becomes a kitten they cuddle tons

And so neither of them want this to end really
Because tony loves this contact and closeness, Loki picks him up constantly and holds him and kisses the top of his head and he loves it

And Loki loves holding this kitten and petting it and he’s afraid that when tony becomes human again tony won’t want to be touched anymore and tony is afraid that Loki only likes touching him because he’s a cat

So when Loki figures out how to turn tony back tony avoids him all day
And curls up in a secret spot Loki can’t get to because he doesn’t want this to be over
And that of course makes Loki think that tony is rejecting him

So he kneels down in front of the hidey-hole and begs tony to come out and he starts to cry and tony is like NO and races out because his instinct as the Best Kitty is to comfort his Loki

And Loki is so overjoyed and he cradles the kitten close to him but he wants to know why tony avoided him in the first place
And he keeps thinking about how he wants to understand
Which causes his seidr to go off by accident and give him a flash of insight into kitty Tony’s mind

And he realizes that they both have been relishing in the physical affection
& that tony avoided him because he didn’t want the spell to end because he assumed Loki wouldn’t touch him anymore

“Is that what this is, little one? You fear losing my touch?”
Tony lets out this little helpless mew
“Well, that’s quite convenient, because I have feared losing yours.”
And tony just starts purring and curling around Loki because Loki will touch him after

So Loki reverses the spell and the very first thing he does when tony becomes human again is hug him close
And that’s how they spend hours
Touching, hugging, holding

Tony nuzzles his cheek against Loki’s chest the way he did as a cat and Loki strokes his hair and back and kisses the top of his head just the way he did for kitten Tony
The Asgardian word for “kitten” becomes Tony’s pet name
And they live happily ever after the end

Upon waking he finds a pillow under his head on the table and a blanket tugged closely against him.
At first he thinks it's DUM-E for a moment, until he realizes there is no way the robot would have managed this feet without waking him.
The lab was on lockdown and no one should have been able to come inside, so who was it?
(it was loki of course lol honestly this could work with loki both either being a villain or part of the avengers and I love it)

Apocalyptic AU

the job of merchant is really really hard/dangerous
because the wares are pretty rare/hard to come by, and they get killed easily by bandits etc who take everything
So, tony is a Merchant
(merchant of death)
because he survived so long in such a hostile environnement, never got killed, never had his wares stolen
and pursued relentlessly then brutally killed the couple people who tried to con him
(oobie; killian, vanko...)
on the other hand, he does not discriminate :
even if you're an outlaw, or something like that, he'll sell to you
tbh, more likely to sell good stuff to the outlaws than to the king's men
The entire governement is corrupt, full of crooks and perverts,
Loki used to be the king's brother, but fell (he didn't agree to his policies, spoke a little too loud, and when people started rallying behind him), and became #1 wanted
has a good working relationship with tony, (was always straight in his accounts)

(maybe forming a rebellion tegoether and overthrowing thor?)
(also could work with the "hero/villains" prompts we had
like the one where the villain removes the hero from a ditch
or the hero knock on the villains door "i didn't know where else to go"
maybe they've been friends since loki was a prince and tony was the one who hid him those first few weeks as he got his feet back under him
removed the magic cancelling things they'd stuck on him
then loki left to make his own way
but always came back
tony felt a lot like the raptor tamers,
letting his bird fly off, knowing he'll come back to his hand
knowing also that at some point, hell stay
(i like that in this thing, loki's the antihero, a robinhood of sort, and tony is the pseudo villain, but not really)

Love Spell Hits Loki

It's my usual brand of Loki feels with eventual happy?
I wrote a fic where Loki gets hit by a spell that makes him super affectionate/clingy to Tony, but they're not a couple.

A comment inspired me to imagine that the spell hits Loki only he's more amorous. He has to fend Loki off because they're not a couple. Loki isn't forceful but he's flirting and touching and making it very known he wants Tony (both physically and emotionally)

In the end, they have to seperate them and Thor stays with Loki until it wears off.

The next morning, Loki is mortified at his behaviour and absolutely does not want to see Tony, but he knows he has to. And he shows up at the lab all hangdog and shame-faced, thinking Tony has no interest in him.

Buuuut turns out he does, Tony just wasn't about to encourage an advance when Loki was spelled.

Annnd happy ending??

Canon Divergence: "I Think I'll Have That Drink Now"

The scene in A1 where Loki says 'If it's all the same to you, I'll have that drink now.' he's doing a funny joke only Tony would understand because Tony offered the drink and didn't have the chance yet to tell the others about it -

Tony's touched. The 'villain' cracked a joke that was meant for him and he can't but wonder: why?
Why would Loki do that (for him)?

And so he visits Loki (with that drink) in his cell and they talk and it's actually mostly Loki, being an hilarious and mischievous bean because that's who he really is, now that the influence the stone had over him is gone. And Loki's just enjoying himself because for the first time in a while he feels like he's himself again, it only took a rough shaking lol

Tony gets more and more curious about Loki, that guy in front of him is not the guy he offered a drink during battle and wants Loki to stay here in the Tower and not to leave for Asgard.
Because apart from Bruce? None of the 'Avengers' made him feel good or appreciated.

But Loki does.

Cue some soft (or really hard and ridiculous fast) falling for the hero/villain who make the other feel understood and can make each other smile ~

Loki Saves Maria Stark's Library from a Fire

I have a prompt but I don't think I have the skill to give it justice.

Tony is halfway around the world when he gets a call that the mansion has burned down. No one was hurt, everyone lives in the tower, and there wasn't much inside that he was very attached to except for Maria's library. For years he'd been planning on opening a library in her name but he never got around to it.

All of the Avengers, plus Loki, are at the site but no one knows what to say or do. Despite the quick response the mansion is nothing more than a pile of rubble and ash.

For once Loki isn't simply sulking at being dragged along but he's inspecting the scene. Very quietly he tells Thor that he thinks he can help then disappears.

For days he's locked in his room but eventually he summons everyone to the site of the burned mansion. He performs a ridiculously difficult spell that restores the books but nearly kills him.

Days later he wakes up in the infirmary with Tony at his side.

It could be pre-slash/admission of hidden feelings/whatever.

This is so sweet and sad and beautiful :heart: Loki just doing this for Tony because he loves him, Tony so stunned/touched Loki did and if Tony is holding Loki's hand when he wakes up? And he smiles at Loki and Loki smiles back.
He maybe expects a thank you, or maybe Tony showing him his favourite books of Maria's, he doesn't expect Tony to shift in his chair and lean over and press his lips to Loki's in their first kiss and whispers, "Thanks."
And Loki's heart melt and he smiles a softer smile that floods his eyes with warmth, he squeezes Tony's hand which is still linked with his own, "You're welcome, Anthony."

so decides to spell the avengers (or NY as a whole) to have their pants catch on fire when they lie
(nothing harmful, just an illusion
BUT
it makes the whole toxic relationship of the avengers basically explode
BC Steve his lying about tony's parents
Clint is lying about his fam

Thor's pants catch on fire when he distorts the stories w/ loki which makes a lot of things about their dynamic clear up like woa

Bruce doesn't catch on fire at all, and no one can figure out if it's bc loki didn't wanna mess with the hulk or just bc bruce
Tony though

tony's pants fire up when he smiles

which the avengers think the worst of, they find plenty false reasons to demonize him even more

...loki gat caught in the spell s range,
(bc curious?) and he catches on fire whenever he opens his mouth
esp on talks of world domination etc
or against his fam. But never never when he says how much he felt mistreated

...loki never dares calling himself a monster while spelled
he's too scared of what it will show
he knows though, there's no doubt in his mind

At some point tony says that "it doesn't matter" to the avengers, or something along the line of "he doesn't care (what they think of him)/(other)" and it lights him up like a bonfire
and the avengers do a double take, because there's only so much you can be oblivious to something in your face
tony runs off
and finds loki
(actually, maybe loki did the spell especially to fing-d out if he being a monster was true and it won't stop until he has his answer)
tony finds loki using jarvis+his tech (maybe magic detector, whatever)
and they talk, screaming at each other, brutaly honest, not a lick of flames in sight
(compared to the rampant hypocrisy of before it's a breath of fresh air)

(aslo, maybe it's bc loki's title as god of lies got warped so used external spell to see it, hence the flames, but it went a bit out of control)
anyway i could see tony scream at loki "i don't care if you're a monster! so am i"
and no fire
(bc lies do not depend on truth but on our perception of it)
(so two meople could say the same thing and only one of them lying)

bruce doesn't speak a lot and he's not scared of anyone enough to need to lie to cover his ass
me thinks bruce is just that honest, but that's my headcannon,
there could def be other interpretations
like maybe he actually did catch on fire that first day talking to himself in the mirror, pep talk like
and the same sentence stopped firing him up once he started believing in it
So bruce was like "raised eyebrow" at all those headless chickens
(also, that meant that when steve starrts doubting that he's doing the right thing or that he's a good person... it shows)
that method would not have worked on tony bc he's got denial kind of lies.
the more he denies them, the truer they are

Natasha actually breaks the spell within 24 hours purely because she doesn’t consider anything “truthful” and that confuses the spell so much it just shatters.

Maybe it’s an AU where only Maria died, Winter Soldier wasn’t responsible at all and Howard basically paid his way out of manslaughter charges
He retired/resigned from the SI board because the public flipped their shit but is basically just fuckin chilling in a mansion and one day he just fucking shows up
And tony looks like he’s going to throw up and he’s shaking

And Loki is fucking furious and his seidr starts crackling around him and Tony is low key terrified
Because trauma brain, every time a person is angry you assume they’re angry at you, so tony kinda shrinks into a corner and Loki sees him in the corner of his eye and tries to calm down
But he can’t, he can’t hold it in so he goes off
Just fucking yells at Howard, how dare he come here and even look at Tony after everything he did, he should be behind bars but since he managed to avoid that the least he can do is never speak to Tony again, if you don’t leave right now I’m going to make you wish I would kill you, and Tony is completely shaking all over because Loki’s making it sound like he would torture Howard
So Howard turns to Tony and says “you’d really let him do all of this to me”

and that’s when Tony starts to cry, and Loki just straight up punches Howard in the face
And he’s a god so that punch sends Howard flying across the room
At this point Tony is a complete wreck. Loki turns away from Howard, walks over to Tony, and teleports them both to their bedroom

Tony is shaking and crying and he can’t think, he’s kinda lost and dissociating
And Loki knows that tony doesn’t always want to be touched right away but they do have this thing
I mentioned it once before, the idea that Tony has some sort of spell that allows him to approve or deny any spell that Loki uses on him.
any time Loki tries to use magic on tony he senses the intent and can either allow it or not, so Loki sends out a little bit of his seidr towards tony and “asks” if he can use it to help bring Tony’s heart rate down and steady his breathing, and Tony lets him

And so now that he’s breathing and his heart rate is down he looks over at Loki with these big puppy eyes and reaches out kinda nervously and instantly Loki has him snuggled close

And tony can obviously physically feel Loki around him, he’s practically in Loki’s lap, but he also senses Loki’s seidr curling around them as well, it’s not touching tony but it’s close and protective

Tony looks up at Loki and just whispers “why?”
And Loki understands immediately. Why me. Why now. Why today. Why did he have to torment me
Why is this my life

“Because Howard Stark is a despicable man,” Loki says quietly. “That is the only reason this happened.”

Because Loki doesn’t want tony to think any of this is his fault

So Loki is cradling tony in his arms and stroking his hair, there’s a blanket around tony and tony is finally starting to relax into Loki’s arms
And Loki presses a soft kiss to the top of Tony’s head and says “that’s it, my love, you’re safe now,” and tony relaxes even more so Loki keeps murmuring comfort into Tony’s ear
Rocking him back and forth slowly
Eventually tony kinda drifts off, this whole ordeal drained him
Loki doesn’t move an inch, he doesn’t want to disturb tony or wake him up
So instead he conjures a clone and sends the clone to the kitchen to make dinner for himself and tony (Howard saw himself out, by the by)
They eat dinner in bed when tony wakes up, even though it’s messy it’s fine because Loki just uses magic to clean it
And they watch mythbusters for like five hours straight (oh and the clone also made tony a cake)

One day Tony wakes up and he’s in so much pain he can barely move and breathing is near impossible
And Loki just rubs his hand soothingly over Tony’s chest and the pain just vanishes

Loki gets ahold of an old reactor and starts experimenting with magical integration
Not an old one
A spare one—every time tony makes a new prototype of anything other than a suit he makes a spare on

And he starts experimenting with the spare one to integrate it
So for Valentine’s Day or his birthday or something Loki gives tony the spare arc reactor back and tony switches it out
And suddenly his pain just vanishes
Loki integrated his magic into the reactor so that the reactor itself would ease Tony’s pain
Maybe he enchanted the element piece inside

Soulmate AU but it doesn’t come immediately
Jotnar have their lines show a clue/sigil of their soulmate, and King Loki’s had always been a strange circle with an equal sided triangle imbedded inside
He’d never found anyone matching it or anything close but he was still a young king so not too worried
Until he started making business with Midgard in preparation to the War against Thanos

Where he found that Sigil almost everywhere used as engines and huge batteries
And weapons
Mass produced by Stane Industries
And when Loki steals one/visits one in secret to understand it, he’s blown away by the intricacies and genius of it (Going with highly technologically advanced Jotunheim)
But when he looks into who exactly is the inventor? He keeps finding either dead ends or fishy things. When he went to question (discreetly) the team supposedly responsible, he finds that none of them actually understands how it works
And in his association with Stane (since he allied with Earth and SI are one of their greatest powers) he found the man...oily and dishonest
There were ghosts stories, about a genius that disappeared a long time ago, probably dead in a foreign land, who used to make metal sing and brought progress to new heights(a dissolute man, an eccentric wild child)
And a broken woman who kept going for duty’s sake but looked as though she had been emptied out of her fire
Loki knew there was something rotten there and he knew as well who was responsible for it.
So in his deal with Obadiah Stane, he asked for three favors to be collected later after the war (enforced with a hint of magic) was and making nice with the man (getting close to the snake)
And when the war is won, he asks for the first favor: to meet the one who invented the ark reactor
Of course at first obie makes him meet the fakers, the decoy team he’d already met
And loki unimpressed makes a mix of threat blackmail and
That word when you make nice, like you are in on the plot, partners in crime?
After all, they’re both kings of their own empires, loki knows about secret skeletons buried in your walls

(Afterwards loki uses his other two favors to take tony with him, and Pepper, then he goes back on Peppers word to get Jarvis and the bots. Loki has to make concessions to Stane in order to obtain tony, but speaking sufficiently ill of him and depicting a terrible and gruesome fate for him was incentive enough for obie to agree, along with “Loki’s concern for his ally” that his secret would come out and keeping living proof was a bad idea (Loki’s actually doing obie a favor here!) (He’s always been very good at fanning people’s paranoia using only true words))
Once everything is safely one realm away, he of course endeavors to systematically ruin Obadiah Stanes life (in a way that can never be traced back to him. It wouldn’t do to ruin future business relations and be known as someone who betrays their allies)(people might not tell him their secrets again)
Of course soulmates don’t exist in Midgard
There’s a lot of hurt comfort, teaching tony that he’s safe, he’s free
Pepper being there for him and giving loki the shovel talk when she noticed the nature of his interest (which actually impressed loki quite a bit: everyone is terrified of him, she was too but he’d been right when he thought she should be filled with fire)
Loki slowly getting close to tony
As it happens, for the soulmate of a jotnar, there is also a mark: their mate s kin lines grow on their skins gradually, as their relationship grows and they accept their mate s inner magic in their bodies (giving them their lifespan and resistance to cold, and depending, maybe some magic/elemental abilities/resilience)

Tony slowly becoming comfortable in his skin again and reveling in the lines that appear on his skin through his choices instead of being forced on him
