An Almost Shogun AU

Tony Stark is the mechanic and emergency pilot of an experimental, interstellar spacecraft. They set out to test the equipment, explore a neighboring system, and come back triumphant, having taken a huge leap into the (figurative) future. For Tony, it will be a crowning achievement to his career.

At first everything is going well, but on their way back, they encounter something they could not have anticipated. A rift in space which pulls them off course, way off course, and flings them into space they have no way of recognizing. Days pass, and then weeks. People are beginning to panic, to despair, when they finally come across something they never thought they'd see: a planet in the shape of a disc.
The strange gravity mathematics pull them down and they crash, killing several. Tony is knocked unconscious in the crash and remains so through the crew's discovery and capture by the inhabitants of the strange world. When he wakes, he finds himself in a very alien world, the people he sees human-like but unresponsive to his questions, and signs that other humans have been here before...

There's some friction between the inhabitants and the crew, most Tony, who is the highest ranking of the crew to survive and takes charge. He eventually convinces/browbeats his way to see whoever it is that's in charge of this world, intending to explain who they are, where they came from, and hopefully find a way home. A surprise is waiting for him, tho. He meets the King of Asgard, and sitting at his side is a man he recognizes - Justin Hammer. (Or Obadiah Stane, etc, a big baddie for Tony.) And the King seems to be listening to what Hammer had to say.
Realizing that Hammer could make everything exponentially worse for him and the surviving crew, Tony makes a scene, triggering off something of a compromise. The King calls out his own son and consultant, Loki, who has traveled the worlds most widely out of anyone. Loki listens as the King, Tony and Hammer all speak, and throughout Tony tries to make a connection with the prince, feeling he's the best shot he has at sympathy. Loki gives no sign of being sympathetic, but Tony walks away with the reassurance that he and his crew will be treated well, and if not given their full freedom, no longer imprisoned.

There's tensions and uncertainty with Tony and the remaining crew as they try to figure out a way to get home. Some suggest making nice and earning their way home, some that they should just accept they will never get home, and others that they should fight or sneak their way out.
"Has the hospitality of my dear father worn thin already?"

Loki was listening. He's taken an interest in Tony, and confides that there are delicate political balances at play. If he wants to get home, then all he has to do is work with Loki to get what he wants...

Cue space politics, shenanigans, and adventures, with Tony becoming more and more embroiled in the machinations of several worlds. He becomes a key figure in the power struggles, despite his attempts to remain as separate as possible, keeping his and Loki's interests apart. That becomes less possible as time goes on, and Loki becomes more important to him, the one anchor he seems to have in all this madness he fell into. And Loki, meanwhile, begins to lose focus on his ultimate goal when the human he meant to use for his own gain starts to intrigue him.

And while it’s a rather benevolent place for kids, for adults it’s a trap
Loki’s not the owner, thanos is and thanos collects hearts
And tony....tony finagles a deal to stay inside long enough to understand the ramifications: what’s the deal with this shop and how does it work
And he understands two things

First the hearts
Then that when a deal is offered, loki has to take it, even if he doesn’t want to
And finally, that unless explicitly stated, loki is only the deal broker, he’s not the one cashing in, deal are made between a customer and thanos (even though the customer never meets thanos)
So when tony goes I wanna make a deal, loki is heartbroken but can’t refuse
Then tony goes: i offer my heart in the bargain
Loki goes ??? The heck are you doing you idiot
But that kind of deal is absolute, so he has to be fulfilled
Then : my deal is with loki directly
And he askks for the only thing he could put his heart in jeopardy for
He asks for Loki’s heart

Jotun!Tony, Tarzan: 'Strangers Like Me'

Tarzan's Strangers Like Me:
AU featuring Jotun!Tony where Loki finds out he's a Frost Giant before Thor's coronation (or maybe earlier idk) while setting everything up. Without everything on Asgard being a dumpster fire because of the Odinsleep, he manages to confide in Frigga a little bit more, who just urges him to let it go, don't make waves, the usual placatory stuff. And Loki does, for a time. Except he gets curious and maybe Thor and his friends are more insufferable than usual or maybe Odin looks at him , but doesn't see him one too many times or maybe he reads something in a really old book that implies jotnar aren't the monsters everyone says they are and so he sneaks off to Jotunheim.
It creates quite a stir on Jotunheim, but they're mostly prepared to show their lost prince (though maybe they don't even tell Loki that at first so they don't scare him off) about themselves and their society. At first, Loki absolutely refuses to let go of his Aesir appearance and clothes, still stuck in his Aesir are Better Than You™ mindset.
But everything changes when the fire nation attacks he meets this infuriating, but really intriguing jotun, Tony (what kind of a name is that, etc. though I just had a brainwave that maybe some jotnar spent a lot more time on Earth and some of them adopted Earth naming practices). Tony doesn't give a shit what race Loki is or his status, but is really keen on getting all the knowledge Loki has on power sources and energy. Maybe he's even a little angry that this Asgardian is treating Jotunheim like this exotic vacation when the entire realm is dying and becoming even colder and more hostile because it was Loki's family that took the Casket of Ancient Winters away. Tony has spent his entire life learning everything he could and building everything he could to slow down the decay and save his planet. But of course he admits none of this to Loki, so he comes off as sending a lot of mixed signals. It's both refreshing and puzzling to Loki, but they nevertheless end up spending hours together, talking and debating and scienceing.
It marks the beginning of Loki truly becoming comfortable in his skin and he becomes more open to learning more. He starts spending some time in his jotun form and exploring Jotunheim.
The first time Tony sees Loki while blue is a Moment and it dropkicks him into the worst crush ever (Loki is also crushing hard, just more in denial because Asgard and prejudices). Not only is Loki smart, he's also gorgeous. And really trying to reconnect with that part of himself, Loki is starting to care about Jotunheim, not just himself. And it makes Tony happy that Loki is happier and more comfortable. So of course he wants to see Loki even happier. He starts taking Loki on tours of all of Jotunheim's greatest hits, but also the worst damage from the war, still there after a 1000 years.
They get even closer and fall in love, though it's anyone's guess if they actually admit it to one another. Maybe they only just confess and then -

And then Loki learns that he's actually Jotunheim's prince and that he'd been wanted. Maybe Laufey isn't magically accepting, because who wouldn't be pissed at what Odin did and have complicated feelings about your kid being returned so full of self hate and loathing for your entire race, but as a baby, Loki had been wanted. And Laufey is also savvy enough to not outright reject Loki. But it's hard and complicated, especially once Loki realizes Odin knew who Loki was, knew he hadn't been abandoned and still stole him anyway.
Loki turns to Tony for comfort and in probably the worst case of timing ever, Tony admits he'd first approached Loki in hopes of using him to get the Casket back. Tensions and emotions are high and they have an argument and then Loki just...disappears. Tony is lovesick and pining, but also determined to find out where Loki has gone. After all, Loki never used the Bifrost to get to Jotunheim, so there had to be some way to travel between realms without it. Eventually, he finds a path to Asgard. Thing is, without magic and a mage to protect people from the space in Between, travelling them is not good for your health. But Tony's piss poor at magic and most of Jotunheim's magic and mages were decimated in the war.
So Tony goes back to doing what he does best: inventing. He manages to forge an alloy that won't shatter in the cold of Jotunheim and the Between and uses one of his power sources to create the best damn armor anyone has ever seen. The arc reactor is good, but not good enough to power the whole planet. It's a stop gap. But it's excellent as a power source for the armor. And it also helps power the glamour he had one of the mages do to make him look Aesir (he doesn't want to get killed the moment he steps into Asgard).
He finds Asgard in a sort of muted chaos. First their second prince disappears for months (or years) somewhere and then returns and then their King says he's been put under some sort of curse and needs to be kept separate for everyone's safety. It keeps thundering every few days and rumors abound of Thor and the Allfather arguing and the Queen has been seen crying. Something is Up. There's a rumor that the prince isn't even Aesir, can you imagine?
Turns out that Loki returned to Asgard and confronted Odin about all his lies and his plan to install him as a puppet king on Jotunheim. In the throne room. In front of Thor and Frigga and all the guards and even a few nobles. Odin spun the curse story and that's kept most people quiet, even convinced Thor initially. Except Odin is now acting like he doesn't even have another son and is being Weird™ and even took away Mjolnir at one point until Thor prooved Worthy™.
So Tony manages to befriend Thor and get him on side with the truth. He agrees to help Tony stage a break out for Loki, who'd been confined to his rooms. Except when they do, his rooms are empty, gathering dust. Turns out Loki's been in the dungeons and in solitary confinement the whole time.

Thor wants to confront Odin, Tony is at the point of just wanting to burn all of Asgard down. Tony wants them to go get Loki immediately and break him out, fuck Odin. Thor proposes Tony go rescue Loki while he confronts Odin. Let's say Loki's cell has wards up that would alert Odin the moment someone tried to open it. Thor doesn't know how to take them down and Frigga can't publicly act against Odin.
So Tony manages to free Loki, heartfelt but brief reunion. As Tony drags Loki to escape completely, Loki stops him and says they should also go get the Casket.
"He'll never stop hunting you if you do that, Loki."

"He has already shown what he thinks of me," Loki laughs bitterly, "I will take my chances with a world that has welcomed me and wanted me."

The question in Loki's eyes is plain. Tony answers by pulling him into a kiss, brief but intense.

"Nidhogg take Odin, let's go save our people."
Cue more breaking and entering, Tony and Loki utterly demolishing the Destroyer (Tony takes a few souveniers). When Loki grabs the Casket, the last remnants of Odin's glamour break and fall away.

The alarms have been raised, Loki and Tony have to fight their way out of the palace. They don't want to kill anyone cause it would just make tensions worse, so they manage to lose the guards but they're herded onto the bridge, where Thor catches up with them, just before they can fight Heimdall.
"I can't let you take the Casket, Loki," Thor looks pained, "It's not yours to take."

"Isn't it?!" Loki turns to face Thor fully, trusting that Tony will keep Heimdall off him. He is fully in his jotun form, red eyes blazing.

"He stole it. Like he stole..." Loki falters at the last word, but understanding dawns in Thor's eyes. And determination.

There is an explosion in the distance.

"My prince," Heimdall says, lowering his sword from its ready position, "I cannot let you do this."

"I know," Thor says and Tony takes the cue to blast Heimdall unconscious with his repulsors.

"Wha-"

"Go," Thor says over a piercing whistling, "Take the paths. I will buy you time, brother."

Mjolnir slams into Thor's palm and he crashes it down onto the bridge. Loki's eyes widen in realization as the bridge cracks beneath him. It takes Tony pulling him away for him to turn and run, opening a path as Thor slams Mjolnir on the Bifrost again and again. Odin's wrath can't follow them home anymore.
So Tony and Loki make it back to Jotunheim to all the fanfare and celebration and accolades. Never in their wildest dreams had they imagined that their prince would return with such fanfare after just running off like that. Most of them thought he'd abandoned them in favor of Asgard.

After the party, Tony and Loki find a quiet place to have their own proper reunion, with a proper conversation about everything. Feelings everywhere when not in a tense situation. A proper kiss and moooree. sdgkrelhg;o, I suck at smut.
And then the oral sex! (said in the tone of that nun from Monty Python and the Holy Grail)

Loki Misunderstands Tony's Kiss Attempt, Throws Him In The Ocean

Loki and Tony are on a "date" or rather, Tony asked Loki to hang out with him. It's a great day and they're walking on the beach(?) and Tony is walking close and he makes a flirty remark and starts to move in close, but Loki misconstrues it and shoves Tony into the ocean. Tony comes up spluttering and yells, "What the fuck, asshole? I was going to kiss you!"
Loki goes owl-eyed before he's suddenly kneeling in the wet sand, water lapping around them and so close .
Tony sucks in a breath and that's all he manages before Loki is kissing him and he's closing his eyes.
From that point on, the ocean will always remind him of his boyfriend/husband's lips and their first kiss.

I just can't decide if I want to have Loki assuming he's human but finding out he's a host, or if I want Loki as a kind of Dolores, and Tony being fascinated with his potential to develop a true consciousness and secretly talking to him and falling in love while angsting about how 'real' Loki is. Anyway i would never write it but in the end the 'mechanic' turns out to be tony stark living the simple life (after something along the Afghanistan arc but lighter) while Loki doesn't go back to be the rich bastard he was he can get his skincare routine back lol AND HE AND TONY LIVE HAPPILY EVER AFTER THE END

Highschool AU: Baka no Test

Guys this hit me out of know where but I got hit with the past when I remembered a certain anime that I saw a few episodes of called Baka and Test. So in this show these kids go to like a high school I think and are separated into classes by how smart they are from class A (the best) and class F (the worst). To encourage learning they have these things called a test summon. It is basically a little fantasy game character of themselves that they can duel other people with. (They are like 3-D characters that come to life. I cannot explain it that well...oof I would just wiki to avoid my terrible explanation) To make their character stronger they take tests and the more you get questions right the stronger you character gets but if you enter a duel and you lose life you have to take the test again to heal yourself. Honestly thing sprung out of an idea for a high school AU and so I was thinking that Tony and Loki go to this school (I imagine their MCU selves to be their digital character) but when Tony summons his instead of doing what Tony wants it to do it just likes to flirt with Loki's character much to his embarrassment. Ummm that is all I got for now...:grimacing:

Those two sons accidentally falling in love while on their parallel quest to become worthy - through epic feats and fortune - of the hand of a Princess that may or may not have hired an assassin to kill the King (the assassin fails, unfortunately, leaving the man frothing furious to blame someone), and who politely tells them both that if they don’t take her far from the kingdom with all due swiftness that she’ll have the assassination attempt pinned on them, is in.

guys I have a soulmate idea: So basically actually I don't know how to explain it. Some thing along the lines that a person soul is split in half. One half occupies the human body and the other part manifests as an animal with your other soul mate so you literally have a piece of their soul. This animal/spirit/soul thing just kinda keeps you company until the other half arrives and kinda works as a magnet for it's original other half so the two soul mates can meet each other. So Tony's soul mates other manifest itself as a snake and Tony thinks he has the coolest soulmate ever because his snake is magical and he loves running hundreds of tests with it. The size of the snakes verys day to day depending how Loki is feeling ( when he feels small the snake is small and when he is angry the snake gets larger as defense etc). When content and the snake is medium sized. The snakes likes to wrap itself around Tony's arms and neck and sometimes sits on top of his head like a crown. The thing is the snake is attuned to its other half so it knows what Loki is feeling and basically kinda matches that however it still is a two way street so when Tony showers the snake in affection it makes Loki feel good to. So when Loki is grumpy the snake is grumpy and will hiss angrily at people until Tony calms it down . So Tony starts to worry when his snake is feeling down and lashing out at people. He is even more freaked out when the snake becomes cold to the touch and sheds it skin and turns blue. (this is the events of Thor 1) and for awhile it the snake grows weak and flickers in and out of existence as Loki is with Thanos. So when Loki comes to earth the snake immediately tries to escape to get to Loki and accompany Tony on his missions. So much so that Tony has to lock it in his tower so it doesn't get hurt. So when Loki breaks in Tony is surprised to find the snake curling up with Loki and Tony's other 1/2 of his soul by Loki's side.

So (in one of the worlds where Loki is on earth as more annoying than actual harmful) what if Tony and Loki both decide they kinda like each other, lets give this a go. But! Being the reasonable negotiators they are they understand that if it got out they were seeing each other there could be disastrous consequences for both of them (really Tony more so than Loki, but Loki is willing to make concessions).
So they decide to attempt Dating. Early relationship dating where you're still not sure if you even like the guy dating, but dating nonetheless.
The problem is that every time they set up a date, someone recognizes them and they end up having to fake fight each other.
So you've got two people who haven't really had a real chance to even be friends yet but they're both so damn stubborn that the question of "is the amount of effort we have to put in to seeing each other worth it?"
So the plans they come up with to see each other and spend time together just get more and more elaborate because no one is going to tell me I can't do something, damnit! (even if no one actually said that, no one even implied it because no one knew it was an option).
But in the process of planning these elaborate plans, they actually do talk (and maybe spend time together without realizing it).
Until one of them finally just goes, "Let's just have dinner this time."
Bonus if at first Thor is like, "Friend Stark, why are you suddenly so determined to hunt down my brother? Please stop." But then eventually he actually sees a video of one of the fights and goes :squint:

Please thell me that on Asgard the engaged couples have a coreographed "fight" that is usually a public event where everyone gathers just to see the "fight" even if they don't know the couple, but normally the fights start off as planned, but then the tinsy itsy bit of magic that every inhabitant of the 9 ralms has takes over so the "fight" tells a story & in some cases it turns into something else like stand up comedy or the couple dancing like professionals. And the fights Tony and Loki have keep detailing into them bickering/flirting/bantering/whatever & whenever that happens Thor is like :suspicion: :suspicion:

Space AU: Captain Tony Saves Prince Loki

Ok so I'm not too sure what aspect would change as this is originally for a character that was born from a star and space (?) Demon sooo. But anyway
it starts off with the classic new planet and being beamed down. and the people of this 'new' planet (so much backstory there) seem really friendly but in a 'you are an outsider way'
The 'king' is... He leans the newcomers to some ruins and it goes to hell (not fighting the people, but monsters). The king says sorry, that he was worried for them, when they make it back alive.
During this, there's a young prince (Loki) that seems to be... Well more of a puppet. He won't talk to them. Even when they try and communicate. He acts as a almost guard for them while they there. And it becomes apparent to the captain (Tony) that something is amiss with this. (There's a point where Tony saves Loki during this ruin- battle and Loki lets slip that he doesn't care about his worth)
Of course once they return from the battle/trap they go back to the ship, because what they were there for was dealt with, and they had no excuse to stay / outstayed their welcome.
It's only a few years later when the planet joins the federation, that they find themselves back there (I just had it that Tony's ship was close so they got tasked with cargo as part of the federation deal was trade). And it's Loki on the throne
He makes it very clear he wants them off the planet as soon as possible. but unlike king before it isn't because he doesn't want outside in their home, it's more that there's a tension in the palace that he can't afford them (crew) around.
Of course, like true star trek fashion, Tony can't leave it alone.
It turns out the people were staging a revolution (is that the word?) Against Loki (for killing their king mainly). But as Tony helps (Loki!) He finds out that not only has the planet become more healthy and prosperous since Loki took the throne but the king (Odin) before had spread rumours of horror and how monstrous the prince was. They people would always hate him
There's a small handful of people that don't want Loki head on a spike - they plead to Tony to help. He does.
As they people attack the palace, the group try and get Loki to leave. But Loki thinks staying, letting them kill him will just be another way to help the planet (it will calm their anger ect)
Tony and another (a close friend that wants the best for Loki... Uh Thor?) Convince him other wise.
So they make a plan to fake his death. A few of the group in support of Loki decide to go with him - join his space adventures (Tony agrees to let them aboard before they all lists the reasons they are a good asset and should be allowed to join) and the rest stay to make sure Loki's efforts and his death doesn't unravel (also it's their home and they have family)
I did have it that the prince ends up killing the end of the revolution and as the palace burns makes his escaped (that way they say they both die) but I'm not sure how it would fit with Loki
But anyway
It works. Loki and a few others join Tonys crew
For a time
(it's the federation, no one just joins the crew)
Fast forward to Loki joining Tony's crew (at least one of his kind follows - the federation wants them to be paired a they don't know everything about their bio or culture so better safe than sorry) and they live happy ever after?
Or do they?

Idea: A dancer AU. So Tony is in a relationship with Loki a famous and professional dancer. Loki has kept asking for Tony for a dance but he was always embarrassed and afraid he would tread on Loki's toes. So secretly he has been practicing and taking lessons so he can sweep Loki of his feet. So after awhile he believes he is ready to do it so he promises Loki that he will dance with him after his Afghanistan trip. The thing is in the attack or during his torturer his legs were permanently disabled and one of the first things he realizes is that he can never fulfill his promise of dancing with Loki. So he later escapes the cave and after comfort and more comfort from Loki, Tony confides in him that he is sorry that he never got to dance with him because he felt inadequate. Loki reassures Tony it would not have mattered how good of a dancer Tony was as long as they did it together. This snaps Tony out of his depressed funk and immediately starts trying to solve him problems rather than moping around at his lost ability. He begins to build him self braces to would restore a little movement (kinda like Rhodey's) and keeps them a secret to surprise Loki. Unable to wait for a complete finished product he invites Loki early to his lab. He clears out a space in his lab so they will have room to dance. So when Loki enters confused, Tony bows low or a much as possible and asks for the dance he promised long ago. J.A.R.V.I.S. puts on some music to set the tone as Loki accepts teary eyed and they begin to dance. The braces are not yet perfect and Tony's movement is a bit jerky but both are happy doing a slow awkward waltz around the lab.

I really like AUs. I also really like the idea of an AU where all of these things are combined.
