The hero shows up at the villain’s doorstep one night. They’re shivering, bleeding, scared. There’s also a slightly dazed look in their eyes– they were drugged. They look like they were assaulted. Looking up at the villain, swaying slightly as they’re close to passing out, they mumble “…didn’t know where else to go…” then collapse into the villain’s arms.

Long Distance Relationship, Tony+Bruce as Roommates

So Tony, Bruce, and Loki are all together, but Loki is sort of an LDR
Because he has duties on Asgard
(this is in the magical Avengers AU where the shit doesn't hit as many fans)
So Tony and Bruce live together in Avengers Tower and Loki comes by once a week or so, sometimes he'll spend like a whole weekend there and that's super exciting
And obviously between magic and science they talk to Loki every day but he isn't physically there all the time

okay it's like in the middle of the night on Wednesday or like 2am or something and all of a sudden Tony wakes up SCREAMING
Not like little girl screaming. Full blown horror, pain

Tony sits straight up in bed, obviously this wakes Bruce up and Tony is hysterical, he's screaming, crying, Bruce has to tell JARVIS to soundproof the room just so the Avengers don't come rushing in
And Bruce is trying to ask Tony what happened but Tony is too hysterical to talk

Like he tries and all he gets are incoherent noises
(I HC Tony as autistic because I am and this totally happens to me when I'm panicking. It's called going nonverbal and the way I experience it is that I am able to swear, but not speak. Super weird.)

And when I have this it stresses me out because I want to talk and explain so the panic gets worse which makes the nonverbalness worse and on and on and on
and since Cyclical Stress is basically Tony's middle name....yeah

So eventually Bruce tells him to stop, it's okay, you don't have to talk right now, and he lets Tony curl into his arms and cry
and this is the point where we acknowledge: Loki Exists!
Bruce is very, very surreptitious about it.

Because he knows Tony would NEVER want Bruce to call Loki at two in the morning because Tony doesn't like asking for help

So instead he uses his free hand to sign Loki's name (because obviously Bruce knows ASL, Clint is Deaf) and that's JARVIS's cue to call Loki for him

Loki is obviously there in a matter of minutes because who gives a shit about Asgardian duties when his loves need him
and so he appears in the room and sees Tony sobbing into Bruce's chest and he just. Melts.

He goes over to the bed and sits down and starts to lightly stroke Tony's upper back, in between where one of Bruce's arms is cradling his lower back and the other hand is stroking Tony's hair and Tony realizes immediately that Loki is here and he relaxes instinctively because two boyfriends are safer than one

Loki has this pattern of... it's sort of nonsense words, it's a mixture of Asgardian and English that he uses to soothe Tony, and he says it quickly and quietly so that Tony will try and listen and understand, and that gives Tony something to focus on and calm down
Because he could use magic to calm Tony down but he knows that would make Tony uncomfortable—so instead he uses science.
It's one of their rituals, and Bruce hasn't quite mastered it—so when Tony is really upset and panicking and needs to be grounded, he calls Loki
Bruce's thing is the cheering-up. He can get Tony to smile way faster than Loki can because all he has to do is propose an idea for an experiment

so now Tony is surrounded by loooove
and eventually he relaxes into Bruce's arms and looks over at Loki, who's just giving him the softest most caring look
Tony tries to speak but nothing comes out, and Loki shushes him softly, there's no need to speak now, darling

and Bruce gets up to go make tea for the whole gang because Loki, sweetheart, your clones are very talented but I make tea better

(This has been an argument for quite some time)
So a few minutes later Bruce comes in with tea
And they have tea and snuggle together and tony feels all safe and loved because he IS safe and loved
Eventually tony explains he had a nightmare
And that incredibly makes Loki and Bruce even MORE cuddly and fussy and protective
Because fuck it they love tony so much and they’re gonna PROTECT HIM god damn it

and tony just looks at them both like how the fuck did i get here with these two people snuggling me and kissing me and telling me that they'll keep me safe what the fuck how is this happening—

Stop thinking, Loki says, and it's just got that tiny hint of command

and tony sighs because loki is right he could tailspin all night about whether he really deserves bruce and loki's time and attention

and so eventually Loki... okay so this is something I've wanted to explore with tony and loki for awhile, is the idea of loki using his magic to erase Tony's memory in certain circumstances—like when he has a nightmare and the memory of the nightmare is causing him to tailspin

So who knows maybe that happens
but either way tony does go back to sleep and he's got one (1) bruce on one side and one (1) loki on the other
and he gets five million kisses and lots of love and they tell him how beautiful and amazing he is
and yay

Loki is Magically Linked to the Casket of Ancient Winters

When Odin took the Casket of Ancient Winters and baby Loki, he intended that both if then would be used as leverage against Jötunheimr. He took their power, a great source of magic, and he took their future.

Possibly he planned to use Loki as a hostage, forcing Laufey to do what he wanted with the threat of his son's life, but it didn't pan. Possibly he used blood binding magic to make Loki a part of the Æsir, and therefore more controllable. In any case, there's something going on with him and the Casket, which makes it so that the two are bound together - the Jötunar having put so much of their magic into the Casket that now it needs someone like Loki nearby to control it?

At some point Loki does something which gets him bound and imprisoned, maybe something like the Jötun infiltration at Thor's thing. He's thrown into a prison cell/Odin's Vault, close to the Casket, the spoils of an old war left to be forgotten.

Enter Tony, albeit a slightly different Tony. His story has changed too, making him a little less of an idealist. Things have been going down since Thor was banished, and the Æsir in general are considered a threat to Earth. Recognizing that the alien tech could be useful, Tony infiltrates the castle and goes searching for anything useful he can stream and reverse engineer.

He finds Loki, fully Jötun.

Remembering his own time as a prisoner, and possibly after chatting with Loki and getting the impression that this could be an "enemy of my enemy is my friend" situation, Tony breaks Loki out, and takes him and the Casket back to Earth with him. Loki looks at it all as an opportunity, and as his once again being nothing but the spoils of war.

And frostiron happens.

Okay, I came up with this while working on a different idea and need to share. (I've got like 4 more paragraphs, but I'm keeping those like a greedy little gremlin for when if I decide to make a run at it myself.

Tony grew up lonely, and like a lot of lonely kids, he made an imaginary friend for himself. A boy about his own age, with black hair, bright green eyes and a penchant for mischief which tended to get Tony into trouble a lot as a kid.

Tony doesn't really have "real" friends, a result of his parentage and how he's being raised, so he takes a lot of comfort in his imaginary friend. They play together, they talk together, and Tony finds comfort in the boy, even if he knows he's imaginary... Even though he seems awfully real, and will talk about weird things Tony knows nothing about.

Alright, well, this is what I had in mind for the rest. Be forewarned: tis angsty.

As Tony gets older, so does his friend, keeping pace with him. He knows it's weird to have an imaginary friend for so long, as he keeps getting older and older, but he doesn't care. The boy is the one constant in his life, even if he is annoying sometimes.

Eventually, he does start seeing the boy less and less. Part of the inspiration for JARVIS was to have someone talk back to him when he started speaking out loud, now that the boy wasn't always there. The bots and his AI were all, partially, attempts to fill a void left by the boy who has never actually been there at all.

One of the last times he sees the boy, now a man just like Tony, he realizes that somehow he's fallen in love with a construct of his own mind. The playmate of his childhood, the one person who stuck with him and seemed to understand him, and it was all in his head. It might be messed up, it might mean he's actually crazy, but he doesn't care. He knows this might be the last time he ever sees the boy - times have gotten too few and far between to trust that he'll ever come back - so he confesses his feelings.

At first his imaginary friend says nothing, then he smiles, and brushes his fingers along Tony's cheek, a mockery of touch. "I wish you were real," he says.

Tony and Lolo are dancing around each other since they first meet (in my head Tony is an Asgardian) and they have a thing where Tony asks Lolo what stupid idea did Thor have that day. It all started because one day Loki was upset and Tony let him let out some steam by telling him what happened.

After a while whenever Tony saw that something is bothering Loki, he would ask him "What did Thor do now?" even after years of this going on & Thor stopped being what upset Loki, but laughing at the poor oaf makes him forget about his wories and he can see his Tony laugh <3 maybe slide in some accidental confession/proposal ;) ;)

And now I have this terrible idea for a dark plot twist, please don't scream at me: Tony and Loki were rather young (kids, really) when they first met and Tony innocently started to tell some of those funny stories to Maria.

Howard is an international business man with contacts on all realms and some shady types visiting (heck, he's an arms dealer) and one of them (Obadiah?) always listens to what the boy has to tell. and becomes very friendly. What Tony and Maria don't know is that Obie is in touch with a terrorist group (surprise) who are very interested in learning everything about the future Aesir king's habits, deficiencies, prsonal views and so on.

Tony still considers Obie a friend when he is grown up and doesn't worry that the older man casually continues asking questions about Thor. It's along-standing habit, and Obie is very good at asking. It's like, 'So, what's our golden dimwit planning this month?' 'Hunting with W3/Sif at [insert placename.'] like every autumn.' One day, there's an assassination attempt on Thor and...

Tony gets arrested for high treason.

The night before they leave, Loki visits Tony in his cell.

Tony has done a lot of thinking during all those lonely, angst-filled hours and confesses his love for his friend. 'I know I've only got myself to blame for this. I was stupid,' Tony says. 'But, no matter whatever happens to me now, please think kindly of me. I meant no harm and love you dearly.'

Soon, they realise that it's a huge organisation they are dealing with that has already spread on all nine realms. Their ultimate aim is to overthrow the All-father's regime and replace him by a king of their own. 'We need to tell father,' Thor says and Loki reluctingly agrees. But when Odin hears about the evidence, he decides to make an example out of Tony and execute him the same day.

It's not easy to convince Odin, but after a lot of pleading and reasong, the All-father agrees. 'I give you one month,' he says. 'And then I want results. Otherwise it's death for your friend and bannishment for you.'

Slave!Tony and Master!Loki

Loki never wanted a slave, never liked ordering someone about or owning their life. Tony expected to have the worst master when he was given to the mercurial second prince, but instead he found the fairest.

Years later Tony and Loki are both pining but Loki refusing to use his authority with his slave to have ~more. Loki also refusing the few advances Tony offers because he can't trust it's true. Tony not sure how to explain it is, not sure if he should because, he's just a slave, Loki could have anyone...

But sometimes, when Loki's having horrible days, he does rest his head in Tony's lap as the smaller man sits on the bed, humming and running his fingers through Loki's hair. Loki closes his eyes and pretends it's an intimacy he knows isn't real. Tony looks down at his prince with longing and love, and wishes he could do more.

And just think about that night when they eventually give in.
Loki has had a horrible day and Tony is there for him (Tony is always there for him) pulling off his jacket and listening, agreeing and understanding and telling Loki he is completely amazing. And they're standing in front of each other, holding each other's gaze, both filled with such longing.

They don't know who moves first but suddenly they're kissing and holding each other so tightly, just clinging onto clothing like they're afraid the other will disappear...

Well, if you went with the whole Thor 1 fiasco and it being an Asgardian AU

Let's say, they only kiss that night, nothing more, they stop before they go further. But every so often, they do kiss but never more and only when one of them is really, really down/distressed.

But let's say, Loki finds out he's jotun, and becomes King and all that jazz.

But he doesn't kiss Tony, can't bear to, he sets him free. But Tony knows something is wrong, and he barely thinks about the freedom.

He's too busy being concerned all "what's the matter? what's wrong? Loki, my prince, you look like you might break." and softly touching his cheek.

And Loki does break. He breaks apart, he breaks down and he's crying like he did in the vault, on his knees and gasping. Tony gets on his knees and holds Loki and soothes him and rocks him.
Loki blurts out the truth - or less of a blurt, more the words are painfully ripped out of his raw throat even as he curls around Tony and holds him close.

Tony isn't a slave here, he's free and 100% able to walk away, but he stays because this isn't about status, it's about love and care and concern.

And Tony is utterly shocked, of course, but he keeps assuring Loki that he's not a monster, how could he be a monster when he was always so kind to Tony?

When he's so smart and amazing and caring and he made Tony fall in love with him?

And idk, probably hard to get Loki to believe any of that, of course, but Tony just... doesn't leave, throughout the whole fiasco, Loki keeps looking back and touching him and looking at him with awe.

Because Tony has freedom, the king of Asgard granted him freedom and idk, magic in his manacles??? showing his status??? fell off so he's 100% free.

But he stays, and keeps a worried eye on Loki and comforts him and lets Loki rest with his head in Tony's lap on the bed. He's Loki's rock.

And it still doesn't go further, of course, but when everything goes wrong, Tony is there saying don't attack with the bifrost and helping talk Loki down.
And don't attack Thor

Everything is still a mess, but Tony never leaves him. And when Thor comes back and eveything is just too much Loki doesn't fall from the bifrost he shows up in his chambers and looks at Tony with eyes that scream how much he wants to run away.

And Tony looks at him and goes, "Alright."
"What?" Loki asks.
"I'll leave with you."
"You... will?" Loki asks, never having imagined he would ever.
But Tony steps forward, takes Loki's hand and says, "Yes"
And they flee Asgard for a happy ending.

OKAY IMMA STOP NOW.

In the end he puts the helmet on to make tony stop with it

After having discovered the artificers work area CatBoy Tony builds his first suit. Those fucking Huggin and Muggin have made his (and Loki's) life miserable for the entirety of his nine lives... it's payback time. Muahahahah

I was thinking there should be the drama of the whole one side against the other.
Like, I see Loki as Todd the Fox and Tony as Copper the hound dog.

So if Loki was accused of trying to sneak onto Asgard/attack the royal family.
Only, Tony doesn't believe it.

And we can have the Tony "standing in front of/protecting Loki" scene and then when the Aesir aren't going to stop, Loki wraps his arms around Tony's waist and teleports them to Jotunheim.
(And sorry, Tay! The movie is equal adorable and sad and I love but can't watch it or I bawl my eyes out. SO HAPPIER FI)

Anyway, Loki is worried about having brought Tony here, and they're both worried they might start a war, but they don't want to be apart. Loki takes Tony to his father who is really kind of furious at the whole mess.
Possibly, Laufey wants to send Tony back and smooth everything over. And maybe that does happen, and they're "forbidden from seeing each other"

But they still write letters, using Loki's magic and make plans to meet up again in Alfheim in x years.

And they manage it and they're both adults and nervous but the see each other and smile and hug and finally get their kiss??? And now that Tony is an adult and left of his own freewill Asgard can't say crap and Loki wheedles and charms and gets Tony living on Alfheim as his lover/consort.

And Loki's red and Tony's brown.
And cute little courting
Getting into old man Odin and old man Howard's chicken farms.
And letting the chickens out.
And giggling and running away and chasing each other and curling up in balls to sleep at night in their den.

And it's only when idk, Loki gets injured (just a scratch but he's sore) protecting Tony that they're even more curled up together and Tony gives him a soft loving lick that they both kind of freeze and go "oh"
And then they're even more cuddled and smiling and Tony is able to groom and fuss over Loki, his mate the way he never could before.

And Loki does the same while also taking comfort from the one he loves, knowing he can have all of this and not worry about Tony leaving.

So at first it's only active for a couple decades, then three decades, then four, then maybe he gets murdered or something so it's super short, then finally he meets Tony and (once he realizes Tony == Soulmate) is basically like "What the hell? You've spent more time dead than alive for 1k years!" and just generally assumes that Tony's been alive for a thousand years and is some kind of immortal like him. And Tony's response is "Yeah, I'm like 50 and have been alive for 50 years only Reindeer Games."

I imagined it as one of those ones where the mark fades to white or something when the other one dies. But yeah, disappearing and coming back would be a neat way to do it too.
The first time, Loki thinks its the same but it could just be similar. It wasn't like he expected the other one to die (and the mark disappear) after just a couple of decades. He thought he had more time. So when the next one reappears, he traces it down exactly to make sure there's a perfect record of it so if (when) it disappears again, he'll remember it and be able to compare it to the next one.

and then tony lets out this really small little "... loki?"
and he's looking up at Loki with these big sad sleepy eyes and his hand is still clenched around a bit of Loki's shirt and Loki just wants to hold him
so... he does.

he wraps his arms around Tony and Tony relaxes instantly, he exhales and it sounds like a sigh of relief
And Loki realizes that Tony was scared Loki would reject him

"i'm here," Loki murmurs, and Tony relaxes even further, so Loki repeats it, i'm here, i'm right here, wishing he could say more but knowing that this isn't the time
And then Tony mumbles "i love you so much, loki," into Loki's chest

Except instead of finding a magic bean, child-aged Tony finds a gateway to the centre of the Yggdrasil tree. Anyway, Tony climbs up and Tony being Tony, wants to explore the other realms. So he does. He finds child-aged Loki who's this really lonely kid who's so desperate just to have a normal friend that he pretends that he isn't royalty and that he's just another normal kid. So they both think they're doing a great job of pretending to be normal kids.

Anyway, they get on great and continue being childhood friends and Tony keeps up his visits for years and eventually shows Loki how to get to the tree and other realms. Fast forward to when they're young adults and Tony's heard about this grand treasure the Frost Giants have hidden away. They're both young and reckless and think the world(s) is theirs for the taking so they plan this elaborate heist to steal from the Jotuns. Naturally, it goes badly.

So Laufey is nice to him - really nice, he'll even let Loki go for free because he just wants Loki to be safe and he'll give Loki all these gifts and play games with him. Loki laps up all the attention. And just before Loki and Tony are set free, Laufey asks Loki to steal back the Casket of Ancient Winters for him

And Tony wasn't far. He just freaked out a little bit because he isn't used to his heart changing so such and there was the army and Odin and he thought Loki might be taken away from him.
