Eventually, it devolves to Loki retaliating by throwing things back. Except he can throw things from all directions with magic and/or because of clones.
(Thor is pleased because not only has his brother made a friend of his very own but he also no longer gets that sad self-blaming look on his face everytime thor thors something to check that he's actually there)

Tony is an engineer in the Asgardian army. When Prince Loki shows some personal interest in him, his peers warn him not to date a member of the royal family bc it could be disastrous for his career. So Tony bluntly refuses the prince, but soon feels sorry bc Loki always looks so sad now and leaves Asgard as often as possible. Also, the more Tony learns about Loki, the more he likes him and besides, Loki is hot. But somehow, there’s never a chance to say ‘sorry’ and ask for a second chance.

Years later, Loki is publicly exposed as a Jotun and Odin reveals his plans to send Loki to Jotunheim as a puppet king. Loki falls into a deep depression and refuses to go. When Tony learns about this, he visits the prince and explains his behaviour.

‘What good is it now?’ Loki asks. ‘It’s far too late for us. I’m either going to Jotunheim or to the dungeons.’

‘Then choose Jotunheim,’ Tony replies, ‘and I’ll come with you. Together, we can find a way for you to be more than Odin’s puppet.’ He holds out his hands to Loki, and as the Prince of Jotunheim takes them into his, Tony realises he’s just made the best choice of his life.

Loki is very insecure about his looks because he's dark haired + pale & the least muscular Asgardian (seriously there are women with more muscle mass ovet there).
When he wants to be left alone & not stared at (elves & other non-asgardians keep checking him out because they think he's hot, but he misinterprets it as judgment of not being more like Thor & it makes him uncomfortable) because on Midgar black hair is common & he may or may not have decided to prance around as Lady Loki while he's here.
So before events of Thor 1 (a few years at least) Loki meets Tony & they become friends. Lady Loki tella Tony she's an alien very early on, but Tony thinks it's a joke & plays along. They end up being really close & Tony finally admits having a crush on Lolo.
Loke tells him that she's actually a he & Tony is basically "so what" & eventually Loki decides to show Tony his/her "true" form & Tony's first thought (that excapes his non-existent brain-to-mouth filter) is "Damn you're hotter than Tom Hiddleston!!"
Loki doesn't get the reference, so Tony asks J to show Loki what google spews out if you search for "hottest man alive" (spoiler: it's Tom) & Loki is like "Loki.exe stopped working" because Tom looks like him??
Also when Loki learns he's a frost giant, be tells Tony, who comments that with their track record, Loki's Jotun form should be even hotter than his Asgardian one. Tony ends up commenting something along the lines of "graph of Loki's hotness in correlation to amount of layers isn't linear but exponential" xD

Bruce/Tony/Loki: Tony Overdoses on Alcohol

Something, still not sure what, sets Tony off badly, for some reason (also not sure what) bruce and loki aren't with him, he's alone in the penthouse and he's really upset so he decides fuck it we are getting piss drunk
And JARVIS keeps telling him to put the bottle down and Tony is annoyed about that so he disables JARVIS and keeps going
Fortunately, JARVIS is able to turn himself back on if Tony is in danger. Unfortunately, he has to do just that because Tony OD's
For the purposes of this fic we're gonna pretend that Bruce is a medical doctor, I mean he has 7 PhD's sooooooo
Anyway, he has most of what he needs to pump Tony's stomach because he's not dumb; he knew this would happen eventually

while Bruce gets everything set up, he realizes that he doesn't have—ok so when you get your stomach pumped, they usually give you something to relax your throat muscles—and Bruce doesn't have that, thankfully Loki is able to accomplish the same with magic
(This is why you date a mage, people)
And after that bruce tells loki just to keep tony calm because this is going to be a deeply unpleasant process
so while Bruce saves Tony's life, Loki pets his hair and tells him how well he's doing and how everything is gonna be okay etc etc
poor tony
He thinks that Bruce and Loki will be disappointed in him because "he was doing so well" (as in he was working on becoming sober)
so once the pumping is over tony just starts fucking crying
Of course neither of them are disappointed, they're both pretty sure that Tony was provoked in some way
and they tell him as much
They get him to drink some water and snuggle him until he falls asleep... the next morning is a nightmare though because hangover from hell
and Tony cries more because he feels like shit and he's sure that they're both angry at him
but luckily he gets lots of kisses and snuggles and they tell him that it's okay, they're not mad at him and they're just glad he's okay
eventually tony tells them what happened and they're both fucking furious

Soulmate AU: Aesir Turn Blue When Mate In Pain

but in truth jotunn just find their soulmates differently than aesir
and that's about an idea as I have about this- humans can either have the same way to find their soulmates as the aesir or a different way as well

Wormholes: Tony and Loki Share a Lab

Idea: So Tony and Loki are in an established relationship already and share a lab. So Tony works on his suits while Loki works are creating stable wormholes. One day while Tony is away the lab is attacked with Loki inside. When Tony comes back by an alert from JARVIS the lab is burned to a crisp.

Tony checks the security footage and it's Loki panicking alone in the lab while something is trying to break down the door. Loki quickly scribbles a note and shoves it into the blast proof testing area where Tony tests his weapons before activating the self destruct sequence on his work that Tony didn't even know about and turns on his wormhole device and jumps through before the door breaks down.

The problem is the device was unfinished and untested so Tony has no idea if Loki is alive or where he is. He runs back to the lab to read the note which says "I'm sorry". So after maybe like 10 years of of trying to get over Loki and failing he is in the lab one day when a wormhole opens up and Loki falls through but he is different. Now he has magic and is dressed up in weird Armour and horned helmet and is ranting about some purple grape that wants to kill half of all life.

He's a kitten lost in a very industrial tower full of locked doors. He gets trapped somewhere high clearance and for some reason Jarvis can't find him. (Villain's plot? idk) Thus it takes a long time for someone to find him, but Loki has a kind of animal sense and an affinity with cats. (They are mischievous creatures after all. ;p)

His powers have a way of warning him when nearby animals need his help. And when he notices a spiritual shout coming from Stark Tower he, of course, takes in interest. What is a helpless animal doing in such an unkind place? Are they experimenting on them? Heavens, that would be untenable.

So he takes the form of an SI scientist and works his way through the building, picking locks and glamouring himself in front of security cameras, until he finds his way to the top secret lab. Where he finds Tony and turns into a cat so that he can communicate with the creature.
And together they escape Tony's building as a cat duo.

oh! right, that's where I was going with this.

SO, because he was stuck so long Tony's really dehydrated and hungry and lethargic. So Loki has to care for him and coax him to eat (even though Tony is a picky kitty who won't eat ANY cat food)
And give him warm baths and untangle his matted fur.....
And slowly Tony starts to wonder if Loki is really such a bad guy....

For the next day, Tony tests out coming over to Loki, and just like when he was a cat, Loki denies him nothing

Amora Gives Tony A Love Potion

Hmmm idea: Tony is fighting Amora and she is frustrated why her charms are not working on him. So she incapacitated him and forcibly digs through his mind and lo and behold Tony is crushing on Loki! Amora find this incredibly funny and takes pity on Tony and gives him a love potion. Of course he refuses to use it because he wants Loki to chose him naturally but he doesn’t get rid of it either. Everyday a new bottle shows up and Tony hides it away. So one day they are celebrating a victory and do a toast with Loki reluctantly joining in. Before Tony drinks it though he notices the funny pink color but when he realizes someone spiked the drinks with the love potion it already to late everyone already downed their drink. Turns out Thor thought that it was alcohol and mixed it in. It takes a few minutes until the effects kick in and suddenly the avengers are all staring at Tony. They all now think they are in love with Tony Stark. So Tony is desperate trying to fix the mess but he has no knowledge of magic. So he enlist the help of the amorous Loki however Loki will only do it for hugs and affection. Of course Tony thinks it is only the love potion so he tries not to melt in Loki’s embrace and small kisses. So they eventually create an antidote and give it to the avengers. They are all embarrassed but that just leaves Loki. Loki refuses to drink the antidote because he proclaims to love Tony regardless of the love potion or not. Tony heart breaks because he does love Loki and it hurts to give this up but he wants true love not fake love. So he prepared an injection just in case. After he does it he runs away to cry in his room. There is a knock on the door later and Tony says to “to go away” but its Loki and he kicks down the door and pulls Tony in a bruising kiss and tells him that the potion wore off a week ago because you Loki’s magic acts as some sort of immune system to magic and was just playing along so he could be close to Tony because he feared rejection

I have a super sad idea guys: so for his crimes against Earth Loki is sentenced to community service on Earth until his trial starts thanks to Frigga intervention. So while he is there him and Tony bond and get together. Eventually Frigga can no longer stall and Loki is brought back to Asgard but Tony tags along to present his case to the All-Father. So it come to light that Loki was tortured and mind controlled. Odin with his council meet secretly to decide a punishment and for some unknown reason Tony is forcibly taken back to earth. So for a month there is not a word from Asgard about Loki and not even Thor knows. It was chance that Tony saw Loki at a tea shop. So he barges in and demands to know where Loki has been all this time and Loki is like "who are you?" Tony is to shocked to reply and Loki brushes past him giving him a strange look. So this happens a couple of times and Loki cannot seem to remember him or even the previous encounters they had in stores.

Tony knows Asgard did something fishy and contacts Frigga. Turns out Odin wiped Loki's memory to a time where he was happy and carefree and made sure his memory resets every 24 hours so Loki can be happy for once without emotional baggage. So that means Loki doesn't know Tony or their relationship. Tony is still in love with Loki so everyday he tries to make Loki fall in love with him or spend time with him. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't but he cherishes every precious moment even if Loki doesn't remember and it hurts but at least he still can see his love.

That's so Loki xD tries to deangst it for herself maybe he writes down on a piece of paper what happened after Tony 1st saw him in a coffee shop, because a strange knew his name & acted like they were friends, but he never had friends? He puts the piece in a drawer & next day forgets all about it. Every time Tony sees him afterwards, he does the same until one day when a bunch of people told approached him, annoyed that he doesn't recognize them. He buys a notebook to write down everything that happened and puts it in the same drawer as the notes & finds a pile of notes saying how he meet Tony

Tony spends at least part of every day with Loki, and every day Loki writes in the journal, and it gets to the point that he realizes what’s happening, so he “catches himself up” by reading his entire journal every now and then
And he realizes that he’s falling in love with Tony just by reading the stories

Ideas for including Loki:
- Loki plops in on Midgar because he's borred
- Odin banishes Loki instead of Thor
- Years ago Loki hid something on Midgar and is trying to get it back
- Loki found some evidence of magical texts and tech being hidden in Midgar
Or for human AU: Thor knows Loki is scheming something and has no idea why so he asks Tony for help. It turns out that Loki was a) planning on doing something for Thor/Frigga (like super extra special secret birthday party) b) was borred & spied on Thor & ended up being damn amused by Tony
In any case Tony sings random parts of Disney songs and Loki adds some bs so they end up with a hilarious parody
Tony is doing his best to be annoying, but Loki just rolls with is and Tony ends up just acting like he normally does because "damn hot dude is actually interested/amused by my constant rambling??"

So Evy told me this idea of hers and I thought you all would like it. Basically its a figure skating AU with a twist. Loki is a competitive skater who got into the sport when Thor took an interest in hockey as a teenager. Loki took skating because he was going to be stuck at the rink five days a week anyway. Thor quit after a year, Loki never did. Not when Thor's friends called him a fag, not when his parents told him he have to pay for his own lessons because the hint was getting too expensive, not when he fell at Nationals and missed his chance at the Olympics. Skating is his lifes purpose, and nothing short of his body's complete failure to fiction will stop him. Not even the increasingly irritating attention of the man in the suit who had taken to stalking the rink to watch him practice.

Tony, on the other hand, is still himself. Lonely, rich, bored. When Pepper tells him to look over her choices for this year's round of philanthropic donations, he's surprised to see a hockey team listed. What the heck does hockey have to do with starving children in Third World countries?
But this team, Pepper explains, is different. They are supported by a non profit and all their winnings go to charity. They call themselves The Avengers and Tony likes how heavy that sounds, how it takes charity work and turns it into something people something can get excited about, something for them to root for.

He buys it, and travel to their home rink to watch them play. He hires a new coach, buys them fresh gear and upgrades the facility. And while all that is happening, he sees the most beautiful performance he's ever seen, taking place when the hockey players go in break. Loki.

Avengers 1 AU: The Mindstone Projects Loki's Pain

So another idea: During the Avengers 1, Loki is underneath the influence of the mindstone. His magic is going haywire and as effect of the mindstone it is projecting his pain and sadness on everybody around him in. The problem is his angst is pretty crippling and leaves everyone in tears and they can't bear to fight him as the inexplicably find themselves thinking they are worthless and a monster not worth saving (or it brings up their own insecurities either one works) . So during the drink scene in Stark Tower, Tony manages to wade through the sadness (the feelings intensify as you get closer to Loki) and just gives him a hug and just comforts Loki as he breaks down into tears as Thanos's hold on him breaks.

His magic is going haywire, it's projecting pain and sadness around him, but it's subtle
Instead of incapacitating angst, it just sows a lot of doubt
There's a lot of just hesitation, doubt, uncertainty, insecurity, everyone feels more on edge and nervous to act
And when the gang realizes it's a result of Loki's magic, they assume he's doing it deliberately, and this only upsets Loki further because he has no idea what's happening and has no control
The only people who see the truth of what's going on are the people who come in direct contact with the mind stone—that is, the people Loki controls—and they only see it for a split second
and then obviously have no idea what's going on bc they're now being controlled
Because think about it, Loki's emotions have to go through the outer layer of Thanos's control, and Thanos probably is able to filter a lot of it out before it hits the Avengers etc
But when Loki uses the glow stick of destiny, the people he touches feel all of his pain and sadness for just a second, and then before they can even process it they forget and fall under the control

Okay so basically one of the antagonists is named blue diamond, and her main motivation is that she's wracked with grief over another character's death. She has these empathy powers and at first the only person they work on is Steven (protagonist who also has empathy powers) so when she cries so does he, but when she invades Earth, she's able to use her empathy powers on everyone in the fight and make them all fall to their knees and cry. Except then one of the other characters, Lapis Lazuli, is able to resist the spell and she has this super badass moment where she stands up and deadpans "I've felt worse."
And that's basically what happens with tony

It's a pretty common theory that the mind stone, and not Loki's magic, is what causes the control (which makes sense since Thanos is behind that not Loki)
The fact that Loki is projecting all of those emotions is what happens when his magic mixes with the mind stone
But it's not Loki's actions deliberately
So the magic wouldn't bounce onto Loki because he has nothing to do with the fact that this effect is happening to tony, he's literally just the body holding the scepter. The effect (overload of emotions which leads to shutdown which leads to control) is 100% the mind stone with Thanos at the helm
So the spell would bounce back onto the caster

It causes a disturbance within the mind stone (we can safely assume that the mind stone is at least somewhat sentient because otherwise it would have had exactly zero effect on vision's consciousness and he'd just be jarvis with a body)
And that disturbance within the mind stone allows Loki to drop the scepter, Tony kicks it away, and by the time Thanos is able to get control over the mind stone again, Loki has gathered most of his own magic back under his control and knows not to pick up the scepter again
It's like a glitch
I don't think the magic would have an effect on Thanos tbh. He's pretty cold-hearted and ruthless
